Festival Baltic Art Form – London 2016

Following the first semi-public performance of musicpaintingLIVE with pianist Reinis Zarins at the Baltic Art Form festival in 2015, Maryleen took part in the Baltic Art Form festival 2016 in London with several collaborations with musicians and dancers. During the recital of the Estonian pianist Sten Heinoja, she joined with a live musicpainting performance of the Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin’s ‘Basso Ostinato’; with the Lithaunian sound-artist, violinist and composer Ruta Vitkauskaite and two dancers she improvised, following the music and the dance movement. This was part of an ‘immersive/interactive’ program in which the artists were alternating in leading and following – while improvising.
Artistic director of the Baltic Art Form festival, the Latvian/Russian dancer and choreographer Kirril Burlov, was experimenting with these concepts of interaction, between artists among each other, between artists and the audience and the space of the hall.
